6x Les Petit Clément Merlot Duras 2016

Merlot/Duras • 12% Vol • £10.66 per bottle

When two-Michelin-Starred Claude Bosi opened his new restaurant Bibendum at the famous Michelin building in South Kensington last month, his sommeliers knew that for the first few months his restaurant would be scrutinised by everybody, as all great places are. They would need some good value, low priced wines to serve with lunch by the glass, which would take the heat off them while they concentrated on getting everything perfect. One such wine offered was this super value Merlot/Duras from Cotes du Tarn, from the great Clément Termes.

We agree with their choice, it's a cracking Merlot, light and a great all-rounder, going well with both lightly acidic salad dressings and deeper sauces. The Duras adds a familiar herbal note, offering itself to stews and even floral desserts.
