An unfaltering dry white from the Gauthier Wine list

After many positive comments from Gauthier Wines connoisseurs when this wine was part of our Christmas Mixed Box, we are very pleased not only to serve it in Gauthier Soho still, but also make it more widely available to Gauthier Wines customers after securing a limited amount for this vintage.

The Château Clément-Termes is rich in 150 years of history, highlighting its terroir for 7 generations. It is located in Lisle sur Tarn between Toulouse and Albi on the right bank of the Tarn, in the heart of the thousands years vineyards of Gaillac. It is one of the most innovative wine growing areas in France.

The Chateau remains within the David family to this day run by brothers, Jean-Paul and Francois, and respect for tradition and traditional grape varieties remains undimmed. This zesty white is a blend of Mauzac, Muscadelle and  Len de L’El (also known as Loin de l'Oeil (literally 'far from the eye') or Cavalier).

A pale straw-yellow in colour. On the nose, fragrant hints of fresh pear, apple-blossom and exotic fruits. It will display floral and fruity flavours on the palate with notes of green herbs, very satisfying. The acidity and the freshness are pronounced and intense,  and lead to a lip-smacking finish.

Makes for the perfect aperitif, yet should be tried with grilled sea bass and fennel, pan-fried scallops or even better with spicy fish dishes or a rustic cheese from the Basque country.

And don’t just take our word for it! Clement Termes is a favourite on some of the best wine lists in London. Farringdon’s Quality Chop House (owned by Will Lander, son of famous Restaurateur Nick Lander and wine legend Jancis Robinson) lists this wine as ‘crisp and friendly’, while original steak shrine Hawksmoor Spitalfields relies on it as a go-to white. Going upmarket, Gordon Ramsay’s Savoy Grill trusts it as a wine by the glass, and you’ll also spot it at Riding House Cafe, Brawn and Chez Bruce.
