100% Albariño • 13% Vol • Pear, lemon, fennel - bright fruit, lush and polished
Seen at restaurants: Iberica • River Café • Wright Brothers Soho • Camino • Margot
'Lusco' literally translates as 'Sunset' in the local Galician dialect, and for this bright, lush white wine we cannot think of a better title. Galician Albariño has enjoyed something of a new found stardom recently, helped along in no doubt by the success of new wave brilliant Spanish restaurants such as Barrafina and Jose Pizzaro.
And we can see why - the unctuous texture balanced with bright fruit juxtaposes the oily saltiness of pa-amb-oli, anchovies and grilled peppers, and also stands by acidic pan con tomate and charred, barbecued ultra-fresh seafood.
We've spotted Lusco Albariño this week on the lists at tapas legends Iberica & Camino, Soho Seafood stalwart Wright Brothers Soho, Covent Garden French hangout Margot and legendary SW London restaurant The River Café.
At Gauthier Soho we're suggesting Lusco Albariño served very chilled with the Sea Bass, Sautéed Girolle & Gia Lan, Dashi Infused Fish Velouté on the Summer Lunch Menu.
